New edition of the SRO Guide

On 12 December 2017, the International Council for Ad Self-Regulation (ICAS) released the third edition of its International Guide to Developing a Self-Regulatory Organization. The 58-page report is a source of reference on Advertising Self-Regulation globally, providing practical advice to markets wishing to set up or consolidate a Self-Regulatory System promoting responsible advertising.

It builds on the experience of ICAS members across the world and includes several charts and case studies highlighting best practices and success stories.

We know however that there is no single formula for effective Advertising Self-Regulation and that local specificities must be taken into account when drafting Advertising Standards and when designing the system that monitors their implementation. The Guide therefore refrains from any normative recommendations and rather offers a toolbox which we hope can be helpful to all markets, whatever their size, economic, social, cultural and legal contexts.
