ICAS Successfully Concludes 2024 Annual Meetings in New York
From 17 to 19 September, ICAS held its 2024 annual meetings for the first time in New York City, alongside the NAD 2024 Conference hosted by BBB National Programs. The meetings centered around pivotal discussions on the future of advertising and self-regulation, with a key highlight being the official launch of the ICAS Global Think Tank by our President, Guy Parker. This marks a significant milestone in promoting responsible advertising practices worldwide.
At the Think Tank’s inaugural meeting, two critical topics took center stage:
Sustainability: Focusing on implicit messaging in advertising.
Responsible use of AI in advertising.
We were honored to kick off the discussions with a powerful keynote speech by the brilliant Solitaire Townsend, who set the tone for insightful debates that followed.
The first roundtable, chaired by Orla Twomey (Chief Executive, Advertising Standards Authority, Ireland), included the following thought leaders:
- Solitaire Townsend, Chief Solutionist & Co-Founder, Futerra
- Julie Davitz, Founder/CEO, Plus Media Solutions
- John Osborn, Director, Ad Net Zero US
- Stéphane Martin, Director General, ARPP, France
The second panel, moderated by Jeffrey Greenbaum, Chairman of GALA (Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance), focused on the responsible use of AI in advertising. Panelists included:
- Sara Denby, Head of the Unstereotype Alliance Secretariat, UN Women
- Madeline Di Nonno, President and CEO, Geena Davis Institute
- Guy Parker, Chief Executive, ASA UK
- Senny Boone, SVP, Association of National Advertisers (ANA), USA
- Chiara Elsa Odelli, Head of Industry Relations, EMEA, Google
As the ICAS Global Think Tank continues to grow, we look forward to deeper explorations of these important topics and beyond.
The next ICAS meetings are scheduled to take place in Mumbai, India!
