ICAS gains five new members
Meeting in Athens, Greece, for their first Annual General Meeting since the decision to launch a new, independent platform in October 2016, members of the International Council for Ad Self-Regulation (ICAS) adopted several key decisions for the future of global Ad Self-Regulation:
- Three Self-Regulatory Organizations (SROs) officially joined ICAS as full members: the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), the Ad Standards Council (ASC) of the Philippines, and the Advertising Self-Regulatory Council (ASRC) in the USA.
- Two industry associations were also accepted as members: the European Publishers Council (EPC) and the International Advertising Association (IAA).
- An action plan was approved for 2017-2019. Priorities include facilitating the development of new SROs as well as the launch of an Education Program to raise awareness about Ad Self-Regulation practices and benefits.
The event, hosted by the Greek SRO, SEE, took place on 8 May 2017 and brought together over 70 leading representatives of SROs and the advertising industry from across the world to reflect on the development of Ad Self-Regulation as well as to share information and best practices.
Guest speakers from the China Advertising Association (CAA) participated in the discussion and provided an interesting perspective on developments in the Chinese market.
The ICAS AGM was followed by the first Biannual Meeting of 2017 of the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA).
