GALA joins ICAS
Today, the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA) officially joined the International Council for Ad Self-Regulation (ICAS) as associate member.
GALA is a global network of lawyers with expertise and experience in advertising, marketing and promotion law. It provides a worldwide resource to individuals and corporations interested in solving the complex legal issues affecting advertisers and marketers.
ICAS is a global platform which promotes responsible advertising through effective Self-Regulation. Its members include Self-Regulatory Organizations (SROs) and other national, regional and international bodies working to ensure that marketing communications are legal, honest, truthful and decent.
Together, ICAS and GALA will work on the complementarity between the regulatory and self-regulatory approaches in advertising while sharing information and knowledge on issues of common interest for the future of the advertising industry.
Jeffrey A. Greenbaum, GALA Global Chairman, said:
We are pleased to show GALA’s commitment to effective advertising self-regulation through our active participation in the ICAS network. Locally, we often work hand in hand with Self-Regulatory Organizations and we believe that further synergies are possible at the global level.
José Domingo Gómez Castallo, ICAS President, said:
ICAS is pleased to welcome GALA on board and I am convinced that both our associations, which are global in scope, can benefit from a closer cooperation around Advertising Standards. This is especially true in markets where there is no SRO yet, and where local law firms can be privileged partners in the setting up of new Self-Regulatory Systems.
