ICAS expands its membership in Asia-Pacific
The International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS) warmly welcomes the Korea Advertising Review Board (KARB) as its newest associate member
Established in 1991 by advertising associations, KARB is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring ethical advertising practices and consumer protection in South Korea. Over the years, KARB has played an important role in upholding industry standards through its diverse range of activities, including the handling of consumer complaints, the provision of copy advice and the pre-clearance of all transportation advertisements across subway stations and metros under Seoul Metro’s purview.
With KARB, ICAS now brings together 34 members, including 28 advertising self-regulatory bodies from across the world as well as other national, regional and international industry bodies committed to responsible advertising.
Guy Parker, ICAS President and Chief Executive of the ASA, UK, stated:
We are delighted to welcome KARB as a member of ICAS. We look forward to collaborating with them to promote and strengthen ad self-regulation in Korea and beyond. The South Korean advertising market is one of the largest and most dynamic advertising markets in the world. KARB’s inclusion marks the second addition of an ad standards body from the APAC region to ICAS this year. This expansion shows our commitment to growing the ICAS membership and fostering collaborations across the Asia-Pacific Region and across the globe.
Eunkyoung Han, President of KARB, said:
We are delighted and honoured to join ICAS. We have been working to foster self-regulation in advertising for over 30 years. The global advertising environment is changing rapidly. We look forward to growing and working with ICAS to ensure that self-regulation keeps pace with these changes. We appreciate ICAS’ warm welcome.
