ICAS at 10 – A Decade of Global Cooperation in Advertising Self-Regulation

In 2026, the International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS) marks its 10th anniversary.

Founded in 2016, ICAS was created to strengthen global cooperation among advertising standards bodies, or so-called self-regulatory organizations (SROs) and to promote effective, independent, and responsible advertising self-regulation worldwide. Over the past decade, ICAS has grown into a trusted international network bringing together experts and organizations from all regions of the world.

10 Years of Impact

Over the past ten years, ICAS has:

  • Fostered collaboration among national self-regulatory organizations worldwide
  • Supported the exchange of best practices and policy expertise
  • Promoted high standards of responsible advertising
  • Contributed to global dialogue with industry and policymakers
  • Created global guidance and roadmaps for SROs and the advertising industry
  • Strengthened trust in advertising through effective self-regulation
  • and set-up an inclusive, diverse and innovative Think Tank to foster open dialogue and forward-looking research to generate insights that will influence the future of advertising regulation.

What began as a shared commitment among dedicated organizations has developed into a global network working collectively to address the evolving challenges facing the advertising ecosystem today.

Anniversary Celebration – Milan, 19 May 2026

To mark this milestone, ICAS will host a 10th Anniversary Dinner in Milan on 19 May 2026, during the week of the joint ICAS–EASA meetings and the ICAS Global Think Tank meeting.

The celebration will bring together approximately 80 invited participants, including:

  • Leaders of national advertising self-regulatory organisations
  • Representatives of international industry associations
  • Brands, agencies, media and platform stakeholders
  • ICAS leadership and invited guests

The evening will provide an opportunity to reflect on a decade of cooperation and to look ahead to the next chapter of global advertising self-regulation.

Looking Ahead

As the advertising landscape continues to evolve, shaped by digital transformation, emerging technologies, and shifting regulatory expectations, effective self-regulation remains more important than ever.

ICAS remains committed to fostering international cooperation, supporting high standards, and contributing constructively to global discussions on responsible advertising.

The next decade will require innovation, collaboration, and shared responsibility. ICAS looks forward to continuing this work together with its members and partners worldwide.
